What is VoIP?

VoIP stands for Voice Over Internet Protocol, and it is a means by which you can make calls over your internet connection. As the Australian population moves from slow dial-up connections to ADSL, VoIP is playing an increasing part in the residential as well as business telecommunications landscape.

Ecomtel has provided pre-paid VoIP calls through our website www.evoip.com.au for some time now, and is pleased to be be able to provide the same quality of service for post-paid Ecomtel customers, as part of their standard bill.

How much does it cost?

If you are a residential user, we can offer you 10c untimed calls, locally and nationally. See our full residential rates. There is a $5 monthly fee.

If you are a business user, rates are slightly different. See our full business rates. There is no monthly fee for business users. We can also provide multiple calls per account on request.

What equipment do I need?

As with most things these days, choices abound. However, there are essentially three main ways to use our VoIP product:

How can I get it?

If you are an existing customer, simply contact us and we can add the VoIP service to your current account, provide you with equipment if needed, and help you get up and running. Any calls you make through your VoIP service will appear on your Ecomtel bill, and you can query your calls through your online billing portal as you can any other call. In other words, your VoIP calls are just a another service on your standard post-paid account.

If you are a new customer, you can sign up online, or contact us and we can send you necessary forms.

Please be aware that we do not allow VoIP-only accounts. You must have landline or mobile services with Ecomtel to qualify for VoIP.
